Outfit Changes for a Funeral?

So the late and great Aretha Franklin recently passed and had a funeral service where fans had the chance to say their goodbyes. The Queen of Soul, even in her passing had the chance to make four separate outfit changes during the open casket viewings leading up to her Funeral. On Tuesday she was dressed in a red suit and crimson pumps, Wednesday she was in a powder blue dress, and on the last viewing day she had on rose gold St. Johns dress and gold Christian Louboutin heels. Her last outfit change was for the day of her actual funeral and she was dressed in a sparkling gold flor length dress with sequenced heels.

I understand the idea of wanting to represent the Queen of Soul in the best way possible. By showering her in the most expensive and beautiful things that money can buy. But, I don’t think this was at all necessary for the purpose of a funeral service and casket viewing. To me it just strongly shows that society today is so wrapped around looks, appearance, and the opinion of others. She has passed and still felt the need to plan ahead and live up to beauty, social, and class standards to prove that she was great even after death. Everyone knew of her influence and a lot of people took a hit from the news of her death but was it really necessary to go that extra mile just to make sure that we all knew where she stood in the world before leaving?

I’m not saying lots of money shouldn’t have gone into the funeral and planning to make sure she went out with a bang. But, I don’t think it was necessary to make sure she had a different look for each day so no one could catch her slipping. But hey, thats just my personal option. Question of the Day:

What are your thoughts on the multiple outfit changes? Would you want the same for your funeral or a loved one?
